Background

Clinical Interests :

  • Hepatobiliary-Pancreatic Surgery (HBP): Hepatectomy including major resections for benign and malignant liver diseases, benign and malignant biliary diseases, surgery in acute or chronic pancreatitis, pancreatectomy or Whipple's pancreaticoduodenectomy for benign and malignant neoplasms.
  • Esophageal Surgery: All Benign and Malignant Esophageal Disorders including minimal invasive esophagectomy, lap hellers cardiomyotomy and POEM.
  • Colorectal Surgery: All benign and malignant disorders of small and large intestine including IBD like Ulcerative colitis, Crohn Disease, Colorectal malignancy, Diverticulitis, Pouch surgery, etc.
  • Gastrointestinal Oncosurgery: All Benign and malignant neoplasms of Esophagus, Stomach, Liver, Gall bladder and biliary system, Pancreas, Small instestine, Colorectal cancer, Carcinoids and Neuroendoscrine tumors, Lymphoma, Cystic Neoplasm of Pancreas.
  • Metabolic and Bariatric surgery: RYGB, MGB, Sleeve gastrectomy and sleeve revisions
  • Advanced Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopy: All UGI and LGI endoscopy procedures, bronchoscopy. palliative stenting, ERCP, and advance endoscopy procedures like Per Oral Myotomy (POEM), Per anal endoscopic Rectopexy for Rectal prolapse (PAER), Endoscopic Sigmoidopexy, PEG. I have performed over 300 independent ERCP for various benign and malignant indications, around 100 palliative esophageal and colonic stenting, over 1000 endoscopy and 300 colonoscopies.

General Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Bleeding :

  • Minimal Invasive Surgery: All basic and advanced laparoscopic procedures like laparoscopic cholecystectomy, lap hernia repair, lap appendectomy, minimal invasive esophagectomy, lap distal pancreatectomy, lap splenectomy, lap colo-rectal surgery, lap gastrectomy, lap CBD exploration, lap whipple procedure.
  • General Surgery: All abdominal general surgery procedures including acute abdomen, perforations, abdominal trauma, hernia, diagnostic laparoscopy.
  • Day Care Surgery: Including lap cholecystectomy, lap hiatal surgery, lap appendectomy, lap hernia repair.
  • Liver Transplantation: Experienced and competent in cadaveric organ retrieval (KGMC has the largest cadaveric organ retrieval program in North India). I have assisted in both live donor hepatectomy and recipient hepatectomy and fully trained in preoperative and post-operative care of liver transplant patients.
  • Surgery Critical Care: I am competent in managing a surgical critical care unit. I am well versed with managing ventilators (worked with Maquet and Puritan Bennet by Medtronic ventilator series), damage control surgery, managing patients with severe sepsis.
  • Palliative Cancer Care: Palliative stenting (esophageal, biliary, gastroduodenal, colonic stenting) and surgery for advance cancer.
